RFID livestock tracking on a handheld UHF terminal, delivered in 10 days

Project goal

Client: a livestock-tracking start-up in Central Asia.

The client had the screens of an Android app and a handheld UHF RFID terminal (Chainway C72). The app did not work yet. It had to read animal tags in the field and sync with the client's server.

Solution

We made the app work:

• Integration of the terminal's SDK for tag reading.
• Sync with the client's API and an offline cache on Room.
• A map of found animals on Google Maps, and filters by species, pen and group.
• A screenshot report for sharing in messengers.
• Remote testing on the client's own device through RustDesk.

Results

• Ten days from start to delivery.
• The app keeps an offline cache and syncs with the client's API when online.
