Computer-vision test automation for a German SaaS, 2021–2025
2021–2025 on TestUp, a no-code testing tool that works through the screen: OpenCV, Kotlin and Spring, C++ to Rust, browsers, virtual machines and emulators.
Project goal
Client: Thetaris GmbH (testup.io), Germany. 2021–2025.
TestUp is a no-code tool that tests software through what is on the screen. It has to drive browsers, virtual machines and mobile emulators and recognise what it sees.
Solution
We worked on the product's core:
- Computer vision on OpenCV.
- The backend on Kotlin, Spring and Hibernate, with business logic, user access, data processing and scaling.
- C++ components rewritten in Rust, and JNI integration with the JVM.
- Integrations with browsers, Windows and Ubuntu virtual machines, and iOS and Android emulators.
- A front end on Vue and TypeScript, and an AI service.
The product runs on Kubernetes, on AWS and Hetzner.
Results
- Work on one product from 2021 to 2025.
- Components moved from C++ to Rust.
